Outreach
Charleston Jazz strives to provide students with access to outstanding live performances and the highest caliber of jazz instruction. Thanks to the generosity of our dedicated supporters, we are able to offer scholarships for our classes and camps, as well as a robust Jazz Pass Program that enables school band directors to provide budding musicians with the opportunity to see select Charleston Jazz concerts at no cost. In addition, we produce the annual Jazz Day for Kids event, where over 1200 K–12 students converge to learn about jazz and experience the big band sound. To further nurture the future of jazz, we also present a variety of renowned guest artists in schools as part of our Jazz Sessions program, as well as host masterclasses and workshops to inspire and educate students in the various styles and nuances of this treasured musical genre.
