Influenced by West African culture and European classical music, an adventurous new style of music emerged in America at the dawn of the 20th century. Jazz quickly found its way beyond the borders of New Orleans, emanating its sound and message around the world. Join your Charleston Jazz Orchestra for WORLD OF JAZZ A Global Experience as we explore the International influence of jazz and the genre’s ability to unite people and cultures from all corners of the globe.

GINO CASTILLO
Special Guest Percussionist
From Quito, Ecuador, Gino Castillo has made a name for himself as the leader of Afro-Cuban Jazz and Salsa in Charleston. He has an honorary degree in percussion teaching from the George Gershwin Conservatory. He studied percussion at the Caturla Conservatory, Felix Varela Conservatory and private lessons, including sessions with Oscarito Valdes (Cuba). Since then, his musical talent has been heard in many albums and live shows, collaborating with many international artists, such as: Earl Klugh, Al Turner, Michael Mossman, Quentin Baxter, Etienne Charles, Horacio el Negro Hernandez, and more!
The Charleston Music Hall is at reduced capacity of 250 with socially distanced seating. Masks are required to be worn at all times.
