About Quentin Baxter

Quentin E. Baxter is a GRAMMY Award-winning drummer, producer, and educator from Charleston, South Carolina, deeply rooted in a family of drummers. He has earned multiple GRAMMY nominations, the South Carolina Governor’s Award for the Arts, and several other honors recognizing his artistic and educational contributions. Baxter tours internationally with RANKY TANKY and René Marie, performing at top venues and festivals worldwide. Equally dedicated to education and community, he served over two decades as an adjunct professor at the College of Charleston. Baxter was a founding board member of Jazz Artists of Charleston (now Charleston Jazz) and a co-founder of the Charleston Jazz Initiative, a multi-year research project that explores the jazz history and legacy of African American musicians from Charleston and other places in the Carolinas.
