The goal of the Charleston Jazz endowment is to exist in perpetuity, providing a foundation of stability and support. This helps ensure that Charleston Jazz can continue to make a positive impact through jazz for generations.
Endowment funds can be designated to support specific programs, initiatives, scholarships, or projects. Gifts to endowments are made with the understanding that the principal is continually preserved and the total amount of the gift is invested. Each year, only a portion of the interest earned is spent while the remainder reverts to the principal. In this respect, an endowment is a perpetual gift.
