About Jazzmeia Horn-

Born in Dallas, Texas, Jazzmeia Horn is a 3x Grammy-nominated vocalist, songwriter, and composer. She is the winner of the Sarah Vaughan International Jazz Vocal Competition and the Thelonious Monk Institute International Jazz Competition. Her artistry transcends traditional jazz boundaries while reflecting influences from legends like Sarah Vaughan, Ella Fitzgerald, and Nancy Wilson.

“We already knew this free spirit with the willowy, knife-edged soprano could sing and scat like the dickens, but who knew she could also write big band arrangements that snap, crackle, and groove?”
—Downbeat Magazine

In her Charleston Jazz Festival performance, Jazzmeia will present a joyous and poignant concert featuring selections from her third studio album, Dear Love. The album is a stunning exploration of love in its many forms. Released to critical acclaim, Dear Love features a blend of original compositions and reimagined classics, all delivered with Horn’s signature vocal flair and soulful interpretations. The tracks weave together themes of longing, heartbreak, and celebration, showcasing her exceptional range and improvisational skills. The lush arrangements, coupled with her heartfelt delivery, create an intimate atmosphere that draws listeners into her world. With Dear Love, Jazzmeia Horn solidifies her status as a leading voice in contemporary jazz, inviting audiences to experience the complexities of love through her unique lens.

“Horn is among the most exciting young vocalists in jazz, with a proud traditionalism that keeps her tightly linked to the sound of classic figures like Nancy Wilson and Betty Carter, but a vivacity of spirit and conviction that places her firmly in the present.”

— The New York Times
