Charleston Jazz and Dockery’s Present The Warmdaddy-Rapp Quartet

Reading Time: 2 minutes

CHARLESTON, SC – October 18, 2018 – Charleston Jazz and Dockery’s announce the next DINNER + SHOW concert to be held November 15 at the Dockery’s Restaurant and Listening Room on Daniel Island. The concert features two dynamic players, saxophonist Wess ‘Warmdaddy’ Anderson and trumpeter Mark Rapp.

Wess Anderson was a member of the Wynton Marsalis Septet for more than 10 years and toured the world as a long time member of the Lincoln Center Jazz Orchestra. In addition to his vast professional performance experience, he served on the faculty of the Juilliard Institute for Jazz Studies.

Trumpeter, composer, and recording artist Mark Rapp’s 2009 debut release album earned him a spot on the ‘Top 25 Emerging Trumpeters’ list in Downbeat Magazine. Earlier this year, Mark was acknowledged by the State House of Representatives naming him the Jazz Ambassador of Columbia and the State of South Carolina.

After a couple tours in New Orleans and four sold out shows at the famous Dizzy’s Club at Jazz at Lincoln Center, the Warmdaddy-Rapp Quartet recorded their first release entitled ‘Natural History’. Their live shows are deep in swing, boogaloos, grooves and adventure. Not afraid to stretch out, they even employ the sounds of the didgeridoo. The Warmdaddy-Rapp Quartet is a refreshingly melodic, grooving, swinging band.

Joining ‘Warmdaddy’ and Rapp are David Ellington on the Hammond B3 organ and Chris Burroughs on drums, both from Atlanta, Georgia.

Blackbaud is the sponsor for this event. Proceeds from the sponsorship provide tuition assistance to young jazz artists at the Charleston Jazz Academy.

Tickets for dinner and a show are priced at $65 with tax and gratuity included in the ticket price. The $65 ticket includes a three-course prix fixe menu and entry into the show. Dinner reservations must be made between 5pm and 6:45pm in the Listening Room before the 8pm show. All ticket holders seated before 6pm will receive a complimentary standard beer or glass of house wine from Dockery’s.

Dockery’s is located at 880 Island Park Drive, Daniel Island, SC 29492.

Tickets can be purchased at charlestonjazz.com.
