OCTOBER 11, 2018  / DOCKERY’S

CHARLESTON, SC – September 27, 2018 – Charleston Jazz and Dockery’s announce the next DINNER + SHOW concert to be held October 11 at the Dockery’s Restaurant and Listening Room on Daniel Island. The concert will headline three of the most highly acclaimed jazz artists in the Southeast – Tony Monaco, Howard Paul and Robert Lewis.

Down Beat International Critics Poll placed Tony Monaco in the top five jazz organists for the years 2005-2011. Monaco captures all the excitement and hard driving power of the immortal Jimmy Smith, with whom he studied.  His album, East to West reached #4 on Jazzweek’s Top 100 for the year 2006.

Guitarist, Howard Paul, is one of Savannah’s best known jazz musicians. He has performed with such stellar names as Bob James, Jack Wilkins, and Frank Vignola. His recording with Tony Monaco on East To West reincarnates the excitement of the ground breaking Jimmy Smith/Wes Montgomery recordings of the 1970’s. He was inducted into the Savannah Coastal Jazz Hall of Fame in 2011.

Robert Lewis is the Director of Jazz Studies at the College Of Charleston, a featured reed soloist with the Charleston Jazz Orchestra, and the band’s Music Director starting in 2019. He is an exceptionally adept improviser on tenor and alto sax and flute. He is also one of the most in demand jazz musicians on the vibrant Charleston jazz scene.  The band will also include Robert Saunders on drums.

Tickets for dinner and a show are priced at $65 with tax and gratuity included in the ticket price. The $65 ticket includes a three-course prix fixe menu and entry into the show. Dinner reservations must be made between 5pm and 6:45pm in the Listening Room before the 8pm show. All ticket holders seated before 6pm will receive a complimentary standard beer or glass of house wine from Dockery’s.

Dockery’s is located at 880 Island Park Drive, Daniel Island, SC 29492.

Tickets can be purchased at charlestonjazz.com.
