CHARLESTON, SC – AUGUST 3, 2017 – The Charleston Jazz Orchestra (CJO) proudly presents its August concert titled “LIVING FOR THE CITY: THE MUSIC OF STEVIE WONDER” featuring one of Charleston’s premier vocalists, Quiana Parler. The concert will be held Saturday, August 13 at the East Beach Conference Center at the Kiawah Island Golf Course at 5480 Sea Forest Drive, Kiawah Island, SC 29455. Showtime begins at 7:30 p.m.This dynamic concert was the Charleston Jazz Orchestra’s most popular concert in 2016. The band is now thrilled to bring the show to Kiawah Island in 2017. This is the 3rd time the CJO has performed on Kiawah Island as part of a special line-up of concerts hosted by the Town of Kiawah Island Arts and Cultural Events Council.
“Not only is Stevie known for his mastery of song writing, vocals, and proficiency on multiple instruments, he has ALWAYS been a tremendously passionate humanitarian,” says Charlton Singleton, Music Director for the CJO. “Even though he is best known for his R&B and Pop tunes, it is no secret that he plays, writes, and uses a number of jazz elements in his music. The biggest challenge is whittling down the song list to 90 minutes – there are so many classics to choose from!”
The CJO will perform songs such as:
ANOTHER STAR – Arr. Charlton Singleton
CONTUSION – Arr. Robert Lewis
DO I DO – Arr. Frank Duvall
HIGHER GROUND – Arr. Mike Tomaro
