Jonathan (Jonny) Amado is a music educator from Summerville, South Carolina, originally from Gastonia, North Carolina while his birth family are entirely from Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. He received his high school diploma from Cane Bay High school and his Bachelor of Arts from Charleston Southern University. Amado started in music at a young age, playing the piano at age 7 and then picking up the trumpet at age 12 before switching to tuba one year later. Outside of many leadership roles he has been in over the years, he has worked with and taught at many schools in the tri-county area (Charleston, Berkeley, and DD2), including Stratford High, Westview Middle, Berkeley High, Thomas C. Cario Middle, Charleston Jazz Academy, and full time at Eagle Nest Elementary School. He is currently one of the two band directors at Berkeley Middle School.
