The Charlton Singleton Project is specifically put together by Charlton Singleton for the Keepin’ Jazz Alive benefit and will feature Charleston Jazz Orchestra members, as well as some of Charleston’s highly recognized jazz artists including: Charlton Singleton (vocal/trumpet), Dan Voss (alto sax), Mark Sterbank (tenor sax), John Cobb (bari sax), Matthew White (trumpet), Mark Rapp (trumpet), Gavin Smith (trombone), Lee Barbour (guitar), Demetrius Doctor (piano), Reggie Sullivan (bass), and Quentin Baxter (drums and percussion).
For this fundraiser, I will be pulling from my FULL bag of tricks. I will be playing some solo piano, singing and playing from the piano, performing with my quintet and the newly formed Charlton Singleton Project. Now in its 11thyear cultivating and growing a local and global community for jazz through performance and education, Charleston Jazz is essential to the vibrant cultural life in Charleston. Our programs cultivate jazz artists and audiences through performing and educational opportunities, including our Charleston Jazz Orchestra, Charleston jazz Festival, and the Charleston Jazz Academy. Proceeds from the evening directly support these programs including scholarships for students studying at our Charleston Jazz Academy.
