Charleston Jazz Orchestra Presents Holiday Swing: A Charleston Jazz Tradition



CHARLESTON, SC November 22, 2016 – Jazz Artists of Charleston (JAC) concludes the Charleston Jazz Orchestra (CJO) Season 8 with the Special Event: HOLIDAY SWING: A Charleston Jazz Tradition on Saturday, December 3 at 5 p.m. and 8 p.m. Music Director Charlton Singleton will lead the Charleston Jazz Orchestra with guest vocalist Quiana Parler, adding jazz to the holiday cheer with big band arrangements of holiday favorites and a few favorites from 2016 CJO Season 8.


The Charleston Jazz Orchestra (CJO) to Feature Great Jazz Music From Popular Television Shows and Films


The Charleston Jazz Orchestra’s October 22 concert, Jazz On The Screen II, will highlight some of the greatest jazz music featured in popular Television Shows and Films from the 1940s through today. It will take place October 22nd at the Charleston Music Hall, 37 John Street, Charleston, SC. Shows begin at 5 P.M. and 8 P.M.

Guest will be delighted by songs made famous by Dooley Wilson (As Time Goes By), Gene Wilder (Pure Imagination), Vince Guaraldi (Linus and Lucy) and many others. The CJO audience will also enjoy arrangements by some of Charleston’s most talented jazz musician/arrangers including Robert Lewis, Frank Duvall, Mark Sterbank, Jason Bellack, Brett Belanger, Demetrius Doctor, and Jack Pettit.

“We’re bringing back Jazz on the Screen because it was extremely popular with our CJO audience a few years ago,” said Charlton Singleton, Music Director and Conductor of the Charleston Jazz Orchestra. “Over the years, there’s been exceptional jazz music written for TV and Film and we’ve had a lot of fun selecting our favorites for this next concert on October 22. We know our CJO audience will enjoy it!”
