“Ernie Watts is one of the world’s greatest modern saxophonists. His amazing tone and astonishing technique have entertained audiences and inspired saxophonists for over 40 years. I personally was so influenced by him that my college jazz band director started calling me Little Ernie! It is incredible to me that I will get to share the stage with one of my heroes. I can’t wait!

September 14, 2019  |  5pm + 8pm |  Charleston Music Hall

CHARLESTON, SC – Dave Brubeck, Chet Baker, Paul Desmond, and Gerry Mulligan helped create the popular ‘cool jazz’ style that hailed from the West Coast. Your Charleston Jazz Orchestra takes on some of the great songs and arrangements from that era, while exploring new versions of some of its classics. Tickets are on sale now at www.charlestonjazz.com. Or call the Charleston Jazz box office at 843-641-0011. Ticket prices range from $25 – $60. Senior rates for 65 and older. $10 for students and children. Performances at 5pm and 8pm at the Charleston Music Hall, 37 John Street, Charleston, SC 29401.

We are thrilled to be able to explore the jazz world of the west coast! The music in California in the 50’s and 60’s had its own special flavor, and we are excited to be able to bring it to our Charleston audience. Brubeck, Mulligan, Baker, Guaraldi, Kenton, Holman: what could be better?!  -Robert Lewis, Music Director
