CHARLESTON, SC (June 7, 2017), Charleston Jazz is partnering with the Gibbes Museum of Art to present ‘The Art of Jazz,’ a summer series of music inspired by the current works on view at The Gibbes. The first concert will feature the Duda Lucena Trio, taking place on Wednesday, June 14, 2017, from 6:00 – 7:00 p.m. at the Gibbes Museum of Art.During the ‘Art of Jazz’ summer series, featured musicians like Lucena will play music inspired by specific art collections or works currently exhibited at the Gibbes, making it a visual and auditory experience. Lucena chose a nature-oriented collection of watercolor paintings by naturalist Mark Catesby on view in the exhibition Artist, Scientist, Explorer: Mark Catesby in the Carolinas to inspire his jazz performance.

Tickets for ‘The Art of Jazz’ are available at www.charlestonjazz.wpengine.com. Pricing is $15 for Gibbes Museum of Art members, $20 for non-members, and $10 for students and faculty (with valid ID). About Duda Lucena
Duda Lucena began composing music at the age of 12 and began working as a professional musician performing in the most renowned theaters in his hometown of Recife, Brazil. Now, after 5 years of living in Charleston, SC, he is recognized as a pivotal force in Brazilian jazz music on the local scene. Throughout his life, Lucena has been influenced by and performed with musicians from North and South America and Europe and performed throughout Brazil, Mexico, and the United States.
