CHARLESTON, SC – May 6, 2016 – Jazz Artists Of Charleston (JAC) announce their Piccolo Spoleto Festival performances which include the JAC Piccolo Jazz Series and the JAC Jazz Jam.

The JAC Piccolo Jazz Series will be held on May 31 and June 1 at the Threshold Repertory Theatre on Society Street. This ticketed series will feature four unique jazz bands exploring the various realms of jazz including straight-ahead, swing, modern, fusion, Latin, and more. There will be two concerts each day at 6:30 p.m. and 8:00 p.m. The four bands performing include:

The Charleston Latin Jazz Collective: Rooted in traditional jazz and Cuban music, this band brings authentic Cuban grooves combined with jazz standards to create a fresh, exciting sound.

Unit Four: This original jazz-fusion group takes inspiration from artists like Herbie Hancock, Wayne Shorter and others, blending elements of modern and classic jazz, funk, and rock.

Kevin Patton Quartet: Made up of graduates from the College of Charleston, this band combines technical mastery and soulful exploration in their performances.

Mark Sterbank/Robert Lewis Quintet: Directors of jazz studies at area colleges, Sterbank and Lewis will go toe-to-toe as they bring to life the classic album Cannonball and Coltrane. This concert will feature two of Charleston’s top saxophonists playing the music of two of the best saxophonists ever.
