Also\, Thurman leads her band\, The Camille Thurman Quartet\, which has toured and performed at numerous notable concert venues and jazz festivals around the world. Currently\, she is a collaborative  featured artist with the Darrell Green Trio. \nThurman was chosen by the U.S. State Department under the Fulbright Scholarship grant to perform in Paraguay and Nicaragua with her band. She and Darrell Green were selected by American Music Abroad and the U.S. State Department to tour and perform in various African countries including Cameroon\, Mozambique\, Nigeria\, Senegal and Mauritania. The Charleston area has been home for the creative since her early grade school beginnings. \nAlthough she began singing at a young age in church and in elementary school\, Zandrina began her professional musical journey studying Classical music and Theatre Arts at South Carolina State University in 2000. She received her Bachelor of Arts degree in Music Industry with a concentration in Vocal Music in 2004. \nZandrina has performed with local and national recording artists to include Multi-Grammy Award winner George Benson\, Nashville singer/songwriter Patrick Davis\, Darius Rucker & Mark Bryan of Hootie & The Blowfish\, American Idol Season 11 finalist\, Elise Testone\, and more. She has performed at the legendary Ryman Auditorium in Nashville TN\, the Lincoln Theater in New York City\, and other noted venues throughout the US and internationally. \nMs. Dunning gained the attention of International Afro-Cuban Percussionist\, Gino Castillo when he featured the vocalist on his 2015 release appropriately titled “Soul FunKubanized” live in Havana\, Cuba in 2016. \nIn 2017\, Zandrina had the opportunity of a lifetime as she traveled to Liberia\, West Africa with the Save More Kids Organization to teach music and perform in Monrovia with the young adults from Christ Children’s Home in Gbarnga City. \nSince 2013\, Zandrina has been managing her own career\, providing professional opportunities for her colleagues\, & producing concerts to include tribute shows to Janet Jackson\, girl groups from the 1970’s to today\, Queen of Soul: A Tribute to Aretha Franklin\, and more. Workshop participants can play saxophone\, clarinet\, trumpet\, trombone\, flute\, vibes\, guitar\, bass\, piano\, voice\, and drums. One can improvise jazz on any instrument. We are always looking for pianists\, bassists and drummers\, since those instruments are always in demand in combos! \nWhat:\nA 5-day workshop where students learn improvisational skills by playing in a jazz combo with similarly skilled peers. The workshop consists of 5 two-hour combo sessions\, basic jazz theory classes and one evening concert. DESCRIPTION:Grammy Award Winner Charlton Singleton returns to Forte Jazz Lounge for a night of singin’ and swingin’ with his 10-piece Beehive Jazz Orchestra. Outfitted with some of the most in-demand musicians in the Southeast\, they will present a set of Traditional Jazz Standards\, Modern Jazz Gems\, as well as tunes from Charlton’s latest release\, “Crossroads.” \n  \nA native of Awendaw\, SC\, Charlton Singleton began his musical studies at the age of \nthree on the piano. He would then go on to study the organ\, violin\, cello\, and the trumpet \nthroughout elementary\, middle and high school. In 1994\, he received a Bachelor of Arts \nin Music Performance from South Carolina State University. Since that time\, he has \ntaught music at the elementary\, middle\, and high school levels\, as well as being an \nadjunct faculty member at the College of Charleston. In 2008 he co-founded and \nbecame the Artistic Director and Conductor of the Charleston Jazz Orchestra; an 18 \npiece jazz ensemble of some of the finest professional musicians in the Southeast and \nthe resident big band in Charleston\, SC. Mr. Singleton is also the organist and choir \ndirector at St. Patrick Catholic Church in Charleston\, SC. In November of 2016 he was \nnamed the inaugural Artist in Residence at the recently renovated Gaillard Center in \ndowntown Charleston. He remained in this position until July 2019; at that point he was \nnamed Artist in Residence Emeritus. In this position he continues to lead the Summer \nYouth Jazz Orchestra Camp as well as lead the “Jazz Through the Ages” assembly\, \nwhich attracts a capacity crowd of students at the Gaillard Center. \n  \nAs a performer\, Charlton leads his own ensembles that vary in size and style. He has \nperformed in France\, Great Britain\, Scotland\, Spain\, Germany\, Austria\, Italy\, \nSwitzerland\, Norway\, Canada\, The Netherlands\, as well as many great cities throughout \nthe United States. He is a founding member of a new ensemble called Ranky Tanky. \nThe group is a quintet that interprets the sounds of Gullah from the Southeast Coast of \nthe United States. In 2017 Ranky Tanky reached the top of the Billboard\, iTunes\, and \nAmazon Contemporary Jazz charts with their self-titled debut recording. In 2019 they \naccomplished the same feat with the release of their sophomore effort\, “Good Time”\, \nwhich recently won the 2019 Grammy Award for “Best Regional Roots Music Album.”

He has an honorary degree in percussion teaching from the George Gershwin Conservatory. He studied percussion at the Caturla Conservatory\, Felix Varela Conservatory and private lessons\, including sessions with Oscarito Valdes (Cuba). Since then\, his musical talent has been heard in many albums and live shows\, collaborating with many international artists\, such as: Earl Klugh\, Al Turner\, Michael Mossman\, Quentin Baxter\, Etienne Charles\, Horacio el Negro Hernandez\, and more! \n \n \n[vc_empty_space][vc_separator][vc_empty_space]\nThe Charleston Music Hall is at reduced capacity of 250 with socially distanced seating.
