He has taught music at multiple levels and co-founded the Charleston Jazz Orchestra in 2008\, serving as its Artistic Director and Conductor until 2018. Singleton was the inaugural Artist in Residence at Charleston’s Gaillard Center\, where he continues to lead educational programs. As a performer\, he has toured internationally and is a founding member of Ranky Tanky\, a Grammy-winning ensemble that celebrates the Gullah sound. Singleton has shared the stage with renowned artists like Lisa Fischer and Bobby McFerrin\, and in 2021\, he received the SC Governor’s Award for his contributions to the arts.
