Amos Hoffman is a veteran guitarist, who grew up in Israel and toured with the great jazz bassist Avashai Cohen. He has since recorded 5 cds and is working on a special project of Jewish world music set to jazz.
Guitarist Lee Barbour has recorded a highly regarded cd with famed jazz guitarist Joe Beck as well as a very eclectic and experimental album of his own called Non Fiction.
“We are going to play a patois that includes music from the Great American Songbook,” says Hoffman, “but with our own dialect. We’ll also play songs from the bebop era and a few of my originals. Expect everything from soft and melodic to high energy.”
Hoffman spares few adjectives when talking about his sparring partner. “Lee is a fantastic guitar player, but very different from me….and that’s a good thing!”
Barbour and Hoffman will be supported by bassist Sam Edwards and a drummer to be named later.
