Art of Jazz: Matt White is part of a three-concert series featuring original music created by Charleston’s talented jazz artists as inspired by works currently on view at the Gibbes Museum of Art.
ART OF JAZZ: Matt White and the Super Villain Jazz Band
Trumpeter, Composer and Educator, Dr. Matthew White, is currently Chair of Jazz Studies at the University of South Carolina in Columbia, South Carolina. He is a 2019 Guggenheim Fellow in Music Composition. In addition to an active performing and teaching schedule, Matthew is involved in a number of music research topics, including the preservation and archiving of traditional Gullah spirituals. He manages the Wheelwright Recording Studio and is a full time member of the Charleston Jazz Orchestra.
