5/21/2020 – From the Archives: Jazz Elements – The Music of Earth, Wind and Fire
May 21, 2020 @ 7:00 PM - 8:30 PM EDT
The Charleston Jazz Board of Directors will match all donations up to $6,000 until the end of May! Funds raised support the continuation of our virtual concert series and our Charleston Jazz Orchestra musicians, many of whom have lost their income due to the cancellation of all concerts. Without our talented musicians, there is no Charleston Jazz Orchestra. If you are in a position to help us reach this goal, please make a donation online today! Donate HERE!
Thank you in advance for your support!
FROM THE ARCHIVES
JAZZ ELEMENTS: The Music of Earth, Wind and Fire
Originally performed live on October 21, 2017
Music Director: Charlton Singleton
Guest Vocalist: Quiana Parler
On October 21, 2017, your Charleston Jazz Orchestra (CJO) explored the dynamic sounds of one of “the greatest bands ever assembled,” said Charlton Singleton, [former] Music Director for the CJO. “The late Maurice White put the band together to have a sound that was universal – and he succeeded,” he added.
This popular American music group has spanned the genres of R&B, soul, funk, jazz, disco, pop, rock, Latin and African. With hits like September, Shining Star, and After the Love has Gone, Earth, Wind and Fire is one of the most musically accomplished and critically acclaimed bands of the 20th century. We hope you will spend your Thursday evening with us as we revisit Season 9 with the music of Earth, Wind and Fire.
