“This series is all about artists inspiring artists,” said Mary Beth Natarajan, Executive Director at Charleston Jazz. “We’re discovering that collaboration between different art forms brings a new energy and excitement to a performance which inspires artists and audience members alike.”

“The synthesis between the performing and the visual arts is brought to life by the concerts in our summer jazz series. Duda Lucena’s compositions had audiences imagining the skittery gate of a ghost crab and the lofty flight of a butterfly on view in the watercolors by Mark Catesby,” said Lasley Steever, Director of Programs and Digital Engagement at the Gibbes. “Partnerships like these allow for new interpretations and introduce new audiences. We’re delighted to be working with Charleston Jazz on this summer series.”
